nkm: 150,000 orders with everstox, €500k more cash flow with VOIDS

Jannik SemmelhaackCEO & Founder, VOIDS

In short

  • Fulfillment with everstox: more than 150,000 D2C orders, 99 percent pick accuracy, move to AutoStore in two months.
  • Planning with VOIDS: weekly instead of quarterly ordering, 99 percent availability.
  • Cash: +€500,000 free cash flow and +€300,000 revenue.
  • The lever: real-time stock from the warehouse plus a SKU-level forecast.

nkm (Naturkosmetik München) turns over around €10 million a year with plant-based skincare. For a long time that ran on a small in-house warehouse, Excel and four orders a year. Then nkm changed two things: fulfillment runs on the everstox fulfillment platform, and inventory planning runs on VOIDS.

The result: more than 150,000 orders shipped at 99 percent pick accuracy, weekly instead of quarterly ordering, and €500,000 more free cash flow.

The problem: a warehouse at its limit and four orders a year

nkm started in a living room. Mareike Hefele packed the first sets herself. As the brand grew, it built a small logistics operation of its own, and that carried it for a long time.

Then it stopped working. Workflows were manual, space ran short, and stock lived in Excel. Sometimes half a pallet too many showed up, sometimes half a pallet was missing, and a week later it reappeared. At Black Friday the whole office spent a week in the warehouse packing parcels, founders included.

Purchasing looked similar. The team ordered once a quarter because it always had. The outcome: 40 percent dead stock in the warehouse and stockouts on the products that actually sold.

In September 2024 Teja Staats joined as Head of Operations and asked the question nobody had asked before: why do we only order once a quarter?

What everstox built for nkm

nkm had a choice: expand its own logistics with more space, more staff and new systems, or hand fulfillment over. The decision was quick. nkm is a cosmetics company, not a logistics company.

everstox turned that into a setup that grows with the brand. Go-live was in February 2025.

From an in-house warehouse to AutoStore in two months

The warehouse move and technical integration were done after two months, without daily operations stopping. The goods now sit in an AutoStore, an automated storage system built for speed and fluctuating volumes. Teja Staats calls it a seamless onboarding of a kind he had not seen before. Boris Bösch, co-founder of everstox, describes the collaboration as one between equals: no hierarchy, shared goals, and a switch without friction as a result.

99 percent pick accuracy

Every order is scanned twice. That puts pick and pack accuracy at around 99 percent. Wrong or missing products in a parcel are the exception, and customer service has fewer complaints to handle.

Ordered by 1 pm, shipped the same day

Orders placed before 1 pm usually leave the warehouse the same day and mostly reach the customer within 24 to 48 hours. Shipping confirmation and tracking go out automatically. A real example from September 2026: ordered on Thursday at 1:03 am, handed to DHL at 10:13 am, delivered on Saturday morning. This is what D2C fulfillment looks like once it no longer depends on individual people. everstox has already handled more than 150,000 orders for nkm this way.

Returns without manual work

Every return used to be a manual case that easily took three days longer. Today customers register a return through a portal and print the label themselves. The warehouse sees in advance what is coming back. Returns management runs in the background instead of keeping customer service busy. Teja Staats calls the difference ten times better.

Black Friday without help from marketing

In its own warehouse nkm always had either too many or too few people. It never fitted. Today the warehouse network absorbs the peaks: whoever picks for nkm in the morning works for another brand in the afternoon. nkm does not have to keep its own space or staff in reserve, and nobody from the office packs parcels any more.

Batches and expiry dates under control

Cosmetics are not a standard product. Batches have to be traceable and expiry dates have to be right. Fulfillment for cosmetics covers both in the process, from inbound to shipping. On top of that comes nkm's reuse system: the glass bottles come back and are reused up to ten times. That special process runs through the warehouse as well.

Ready for retail

nkm is moving into physical retail in 2026. That brings different requirements: case packs instead of single items, layer pallets, delivery windows. This was part of the plan from the start. B2B fulfillment runs in the same building, one hall next to the automated D2C setup, and on the same platform. A second warehouse location is not needed.

Better freight rates

With around 150,000 parcels a year, a brand is not a big customer for DHL or UPS. Through everstox, nkm buys shipping at better rates and gets pointers on where a few more cents per parcel can be saved.

One platform, stock in real time

Order intake, stock, shipping status, returns and reporting sit in one place. Stock management at everstox shows in real time what is actually on the shelf. The Excel lists are gone. This is exactly where planning picks up.

What VOIDS adds: weekly instead of quarterly ordering

A clean warehouse does not solve the purchasing problem yet. A brand that orders four times a year is either too high or too low. Too high ties up capital, too low costs revenue. nkm had both at once.

With VOIDS, nkm now orders weekly. The forecast works out for every SKU what will sell over the coming weeks and proposes what to reorder and when. The team decides when it makes sense, and no longer only when stock levels force it.

“We used to have 40% dead stock and still ran out of the wrong products. Sounds absurd, but that was our reality. VOIDS solved both problems at once. 99% availability with significantly less capital tied up.”

Teja StaatsHead of Operations, nkm

In numbers: €500,000 more free cash flow from shorter inventory reach, €300,000 more revenue from fewer stockouts, and overstock in the high six figures cleared. Jannik told the story in a LinkedIn post (in German). The mechanics are explained under demand planning and replenishment.

Why it only works together

Fulfillment and planning work with the same number: stock per item. If it is wrong, even the best forecast orders the wrong thing. If it is right but nobody plans with it, the wrong goods sit perfectly sorted on the shelf.

Teja Staats put it this way on the K5 Commerce Cast: if I do not know what I have or what I am selling, I do not know what to order either. Johannes Tress, co-founder of everstox, added the other side there: no forecast model can be built on unclean data. Clean stock data is the foundation for everything that follows.

nkm went in exactly that order. In February 2025 the warehouse went live at everstox, with stock in real time. Planning with VOIDS builds on that.

At nkm the two interlock. everstox provides reliable stock levels and ships what is ordered. VOIDS makes sure the right goods arrive at the warehouse in the right quantity. Less stock on the shelf means lower storage costs, and full availability means every order can actually ship.

“VOIDS is our trusted partner to solve the most crucial process inefficiency brands face: Accurate demand forecasting on SKU level.”

What you can take away

  1. Recalculate your ordering rhythm. Quarterly is mostly habit. Run the numbers with lead times, minimum order quantities and tied-up capital, and hardly anyone lands on four orders a year again.
  2. Get clean stock data first. A forecast is only as good as the number it starts from. Real-time stock from the warehouse is the precondition.
  3. Hand over logistics before it eats your team. When marketing packs parcels at peak, the in-house warehouse costs more than its cost centre shows.
  4. Put both in one pair of hands. At nkm the change came with one person who thought about purchasing and the warehouse together.

The ROI calculator works out in a few minutes how much capital sits in your stock. More examples are in the case studies. everstox tells the fulfillment side in detail in its success story on nkm.

Frequently asked questions

Which fulfillment provider does nkm work with?

What does everstox do for nkm?

everstox handles storage, picking, shipping and returns for nkm, including batch tracking and expiry dates. Orders placed before 1 pm usually ship the same day. The same setup serves the online shop and physical retail.

How long did the switch to everstox take?

Two months. In that time the warehouse move and the technical integration were completed without interrupting daily operations. Go-live was in February 2025.

Which software does nkm use for inventory planning?

nkm plans purchasing and inventory with VOIDS. The SKU-level forecast is the basis for weekly orders. Before, the team ordered once a quarter.

What did the move to weekly ordering deliver?

€500,000 more free cash flow, €300,000 more revenue and 99 percent availability. Before, nkm had 40 percent dead stock and still ran out of the products in demand.

Why do fulfillment and inventory planning belong together?

Both work with stock per item. The warehouse provides reliable stock levels in real time, and planning orders the right quantity on that basis. Less stock sits in the warehouse, and every order can still ship.
